US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo visits Middle East for support to sanction Iran

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has touched down in Saudi Arabia, just two days after being sworn in, to bolster support for upcoming sanctions against Iran. Mr Pompeo will visit Riyadh, Jerusalem and Amman while US President Donald Trump decides whether to uphold the 2015 nuclear agreement with Iran. The agreement — which Mr Trump describes at the 'worst deal ever' — has removed crippling economic sanctions on Iran in exchange for limitations to the country's nuclear energy programme.
